Motorbike Insurance

Online motorbike insurance for your motorbike, things to think about:

  • All motorbike insurance cover is different, always compare like for like cover i.e. excess amounts, cover level, business use etc.
  • Make sure you are aware of all the excesses that may apply - some motorbikes (particularly sports bikes) may carry hefty compulsory excesses ontop of any voluntary ones you select
  • If you use your motorbike for commuting to work make sure this is included in the cover. Some insurers will include this in the Social, Domestic and Pleasure cover while others do not.
  • Declare any modifications to your motorbike, i.e. after market exhausts, panniers, screens, custom paint job, anything that enhances performance - if you do not you could get your insurance policy cancelled or a claim repudiated.
  • See if the motorbike insurance policy covers your helmet and leathers, some do for an additional premium some don't at all.
  • If you carry a pillion make sure this is covered on the motorbike insurance policy, some insurers ask others cover it automatically
  • Online motorbike insurance quotes are generally longer to fill in than car or home insurance ones so be prepared, invariably it is quicker to do it online than via a call centre and there is usually an internet discount for buying your insurance online.
  • There are lots of motorbike insurers out there so if one can't quote you try another.
  • Read the small print and the assumptions carefully as you may find you are excluded from getting a quote under the assumptions so don't waste your time.
  • Finally PRICE ISN'T EVERYTHING a cheap motobike insurance quote isn't necessarily the best.

Below are a some motorbike insurers, as with any insurance its worth getting more than one quote to compare prices.
