Checks to perform before you ride

When going out on your motorbike for the first time in a while there are some simple checks that you should perform before you set off - even on a short ride.

Around the bike:

• Water, if you can see it without taking fairings off
• Oil
• Fuel, I know it’s a silly thing to check but hey some people run out
• Visually inspect all fasteners
• Tyre condition and pressures
• Brake Fluid levels
• Wheels spindle nuts and split pins or R clips if your model has them

Around the bike ignition on:

• Side lights/Headlights
• Indicators
• Brake light/Tail light
• Horn
• Check dash for irregularities/warning lights

On the bike:

• Pull in clutch lever to make sure it still works(especially if bike hasn’t been used for a while
• Depress front and rear brake pedals/levers
• Mirror positioning
• Make sure you have removed your disc lock (you'd be surprised how often people forget these!)
